Dr. Sussman graduated from Kansas City University School of Medicine in Kansas City, MO, and holds a M.Sc. in Immunology from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, as well as a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.
Her expertise extends beyond her core Internal Medicine specialty that includes considerable experience in Immunology, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine.
Meeting Dr. Sussman, one is immediately struck by her palpable passion for medicine and her dedication to her profession and patients, evident in the time she dedicates to understanding patient concerns and assisting them in achieving their health objectives.
An academically distinguished individual, Dr. Sussman engaged in clinical research with Bayer Corporation and Schering-Plough prior to entering medical school. She has published research, notably on "Resolution of antigen-induced airways inflammation is accelerated by gene transfer of TGFB-1 to the airways" within experimental asthma models.
A staunch advocate for earlier and regular mammogram screening following her own victorious fight against Breast Cancer. To create more awareness, she has delivered guest lectures on "Image Detected Breast Cancer Diagnosis" and "Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Regimen."
While Dr. Sussman has ceased regular hospital rounds, including her teaching and training roles, she maintains strong affiliations with Wellington Regional Medical Center, Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Palms West Hospital and Delray Medical Center.
