- Dr. Sussman is a Tier 1 "Preferred Provider" with most insurance companies. This prestigious status is granted to select healthcare providers that consistently exceeded quality & efficiency standards in patient care
- Tier 1 providers may save you money. Some insurance offer lower copays when you use a Tier 1 provider. This reflects the anticipated superior & efficient care that is expected from Tier 1 providers. Essentially, Tier 1 providers are recognized as the preferred choice for patient care.

What Plan is Right?
- PPO plans provide the greatest flexibility and access to an extensive network of physicians. Formal referrals are not required. If you travel outside your plan's network area, PPO plans provide coverage similar to in-network benefits at no additional cost.
- EPO plans like a PPO, referrals are not necessary; however, most EPO plans require a PCP to coordinate care. Should you require care outside your coverage area, it would be considered out-of-network and subject to deductibles and/or co-insurance.
- POS plans are like HMO plans but with a notable advantage; they offer the benefit of "Out of Network" coverage, akin to that of PPO plans. This provides protection when you travel.
- HMO plans are known for their restrictive nature but offer the lowest out-of-pocket costs. Your choice of doctors is confined to those within the HMO network. You must select a PCP. Your PCP will be your initial contact for all health-related issues. You can only schedule a specialist appointment after visiting your PCP that will determine the medical necessity and then generate a Certified Referral. Your PCP is a pivotal resource and health advocate, and many times work together with a specialist on a health issue or condition. If medical care is needed outside of your network area, most HMO's do not cover or have a very high deductible.
